Trip Summary

This trip is an opportunity for you to learn about the culture of Rwanda as a nation. Learn about the earthly geometric curving and paintings using cow-dung, traditional weaving of baskets, local culinary, herbal making, Intore or warrior dancing, brewing local beer, as well as practicing archery – a social traditional sport.


Day 1 : Arrival at the Airport in Kigali

You shall be met by our Driver/ tour guide at the Airport and transfered to Hotel.Short briefing about the tour as you make final preparations.


Day 2 : Transfer to Akagera, afternoon Game drive
The driver guide will pick you from the Hotel in the morning after breakfast, embark on a 2-hour drive to Akagera National Park near the border with Tanzania. There are beautiful sceneries you shall be exposed to along the way, we shall then check-in at Akagera Game Lodge and have a rest. After Lunch in the Afternoon, you will go for one of Africa’s most wonderful game drives in Akagera national park.
Return for diner and overnight at Akagera Lodge.

Day 3 : Morning Game drive in Akagera

You shall have a cup of tea / coffee and proceed for a morning game drive to catch up with early raisers and predators returning to their hideouts. The game drive will reward you with chances to see a variety elephants, buffalos, lions, Maasai giraffe, gazelles, impala, baboons, oribi, Butchel’s zebra, topi, bush baby, leopard and bushbuck among others. Return to the Lodge for Breakfast and relax to lunch time.

May go for a Boat ride on Lake Ihema after lunch in the Afternoon, here you will see hippos, huge Nile crocodiles and a rich bird life of about 525 bird species. Dinner and overnight at the Lodge.
Day 4 : Transfer to Parc National des Volcans via Kigali

Drive back to Kigali after breakfast, visit the Genocide Memorial.
After lunch, proceed to the Volcanoes national park through the beautiful terraced hillsides to the border with the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Settle into Kinigi Guest House or Virunga Lodge overlooking the twin lakes of Ruhondo and Bulera


Day 5 : Gorilla trekking in Parc national des Volcans

After early breakfast, we shall head for a briefing about Gorilla trekking in Rwanda at the Kinigi Station, then head straight to the slopes of the Forest. Gorilla trekking is no-longer quite strenuous, we send an advance team so you can move direct to the spot where the advance team has located the Gorillas. Maximum permitted time with the Gorillas is 1 hour, return to the lodge and rest.

Depending on the schedule of the tourist, we may take a short cultural tour to nearby communities.

 

Day 6 : Rwanda Culture and historical tour

We shall go visit Dian Fossey’s Grave – a famous researcher on Mountain gorillas for 20 years.

Experience great scenery and close view of many sorts of wildlife on the the trek to the Grave.
Day 7 : Transfer Day 7: Drive to Kigali and Depart

End of the Safari
