4 Days Rwanda Gorilla Trekking

This 4 Days Safari leads you to Volcanoes National Park in Northern, Rwanda home to the endangered mountain gorillas. This adventure will involve you tracking the endangered mountain gorillas twice during this trip.

Trip Itinerary
Day 1: arrival in Kigali
Our safari guide will personally pick you from the airport and brief you about the safari. After lunch, depart for PNV at 2pm. The journey north goes through the beautiful terraced hillsides that characterize much of Rwanda’s landscape, gradually climbing to the base of the awesome Virunga volcanoes, sometimes with as many as five peaks visible. Dinner and overnight at Volcanoes Virunga Lodge or similar.

Day 2: to Parc Nationale des Volcans
Early breakfast after which you will report to the headquarters of Parc National des Volcans. An official in the park will brief you shortly after which you will embark on the gorilla tracking through the light montane forest slopes of the Virungas-a magical experience! If you are lucky you can locate the habituated gorillas in a short time, spend an hour with them, and be back at the base in time for a late lunch.  Some gorilla families however are more elusive, and tracking can take a full day, especially when it is wet and muddy. Overnight and dinner at Volcanoes Virunga Lodge.

Day 3: second gorilla trekking
Either go gorilla trekking again in Parc National des Volcans (subject to payment of supplement at time of booking), or visit the golden monkeys or drive to Gisenyi, visit Ross Carr’s orphanage and Lake Kivu or climb the Visoke/Muhavura volcanoes, or trek to Dian Fossey’s grave, or visit the local school, community projects or walk to Lake Bulera. Dinner and overnight at Volcanoes Virunga Lodge.

Day 4: departure or Kigali city tour
Leave PNV after breakfast and proceed to Kigali city. If time permits have a city tour city with a visit to the market, a pottery project, handicraft shops, the Franco-Rwandan cultural centre and the Murambi genocide memorial.Transfer to airport (HB)
