Uganda and Rwanda Gorilla Safari
6 Days Safari Itinerary.
Day 1: Arrival in Rwanda
You will be met on arrival at airport by our guide and transfer to Kigali. Get briefed about your safari. After lunch, depart for Parc National des Volcanoes at 2 PM. The journey to the northern part of the country takes you through the beautiful terraced hillsides that show much of Rwanda’s landscape, gradually climbing to the base of the awesome Virunga volcanoes, sometimes with as many as five peaks visible. Overnight at Volcanoes Virunga Lodge/Mountain Gorilla View Lodge/Kinigi guest House (FB).
Day 2: Gorilla tracking in Rwanda
After an early morning breakfast, you will go for gorilla trekking in Parc National des Volcans. Tracking the gorillas through the light mountain forest on the slopes of the Virunga is a wonderful experience. If you are lucky you can get to the gorillas, spend an hour with them, and be back at the lodge in time for a late lunch. Some gorilla families however are more elusive and tracking can take a full day, especially when it is wet and muddy. Day 3: Golden Monkey tracking.
You will have an early morning breakfast and after, you will have a golden monkey track. These golden monkeys are the most endangered primates in the Volcanoes. After lunch, you will have an optional community walk. Dinner and Overnight at Volcanoes Virunga Lodge/Mountain Gorilla View Lodge/Kinigi guest House (FB).
Day 4: Transfer to Uganda.
After breakfast, cross to Uganda via the Cyanika Border to Uganda. Enroute visit the Twin Lakes of Bulera and Ruhondo. Continue to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park of Uganda, one of the three national parks in the Virunga Volcanoes that host the endangered the mountain gorillas. Relax at the lodge as you prepare for the next day gorilla trekking experience in the Mgahinga National Park. Dinner and overnight at Mount Gahinga Lodge (Luxury) / Bwindi Jungle Lodge (Midrange) / Kisoro Travelers Lodge (Budget).
Day 5: 2nd time gorilla trekking in Mgahinga national park.
After a morning breakfast, drive to the Mgahinga Park headquarters. Get briefed about gorilla tracking in the park from the Uganda wildlife Authority officials. After the briefing, hike into the forested jungles and start your search for the endangered mountains in the Mgahinga National Park. After the gorilla trek, return later for dinner and overnight stay. Overnight at Mount Gahinga Lodge (Luxury) / Bwindi Jungle Lodge (Midrange) / Kisoro Travelers Lodge (Budget).
Day 6: Travel back to Kigali
After breakfast, go for the Batwa Experience within the park. The hike takes you to the Garama cave, the place where the Batwa used to live within the park. After the hike, embark on a return trip to Kigali in Rwanda. Either you will be transferred to your Hotel in Kigali or dropped off at the airport for your flight back home.
