What to wear for chimpanzee trekking in Uganda or Rwanda?

Chimpanzee trekking is an interesting and adventurous activity that is will mainly done in the tropical rain-forests of Kibale Forest National Park, Kalinzu forest, Bundongo forest in Uganda and the Nyungwe forest national park in Rwanda. Majority of the tourists tend to ignore the dressing code for this activity but it is very useful to know what to wear for chimpanzee trekking since your safety matters a lot while on a safari adventure.

Much as the concern is mainly putting on and obtaining the trekking permits. for seeing these primates, what makes you comfortable during that whole process of chimpanzee trekking is what you wear. For the trek, and how safe you are. Provided the rain forests is tropical in nature. you need to put on the suitable clothing and footwear for the trekking adventure. Below is what we recommend to wear for chimpanzee trekking in Uganda or Rwanda:-

Long sleeved wears.

We are recommended to wear long trousers. long-sleeved shirts to cover up the knees and elbow respectively against scratches. while trekking the chimpanzees in the forests, Surely, do not think of putting on short sleeved T-shirts and shorts.

Rubber boots.

For enjoying the chimpanzee trekking adventure, we also advise that you wear rubber boots. these called wellies that have treads on them. These are preferred since they can easily be cleaned and  are lightweight walking boots, for comfort-ability and for your safety. The reason for waterproof boots is that chimpanzee treks take place in rain forests where it  rains anytime, normally short showers, not just during the rainy seasons.

Hand Gloves

wearing protective leather gloves or gardening gloves to give you support and protect your hands from the thorny plants while searching for the chimpanzees in the forest.

Insect Repellent

Carry a Back pack

It requires a day pack that is waterproof in nature. It is best to protect your camera equipment and phones. have a place for bottled water especially for 1-2litres for a day.
