Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Pick Up and Transfer to Volcanoes National Park
Upon arrival, a representative from Albertine Tours will greet you and arrange for your transfer to Volcanoes National Park. This conservation area is home to approximately 30% of the world’s remaining mountain gorilla population, making it one of the few parks in East Africa. The drive takes about two hours, and there is an optional visit to the Iby’iwacu community.

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking Experience.
After breakfast, we’ll head to the park headquarters for a briefing from park rangers. They’ll go over the dos and don’ts when interacting with gorillas. You’ll be guided through the park in groups of eight to find the gentle, brown-eyed creatures, and you’ll enjoy the walk through the forest, with the pace determined by the last person. Since the trek is fairly strenuous, it’s important to consider your physical fitness before going for a gorilla experience. It takes 2-5 hours to trek to the gorilla species, after which you return to the lodge.

Day 3: Golden Monkey Experience.
Morning breakfast, then return to the park headquarters for golden Monkey Trekking. One of the most exquisite species of monkeys, these primates are found only in the volcanic Virunga region. They reside in the national park’s bamboo forest, and the trek to see the golden monkeys takes two to three hours. Return to the lodge for dinner and stay overnight.

Day 4: Transfer back for Departure.
After breakfast, check out and transfer to Kigali; if time allows, briefly enjoy a Kigali city tour later transfer to the airport for departure.
