Day 1: Arrival in Kigali – Kigali City Tour
Upon arrival at Kigali International Airport, you will be welcomed by your Albertine Tours representative and transferred to your accommodation.
Depending on your arrival time, we will take you on a Kigali city tour. Kigali is one of Africa’s cleanest and most vibrant cities, with a fascinating combination of modern development, history and culture.
You can explore local markets, craft centers and other important sites while getting your first introduction to Rwandan culture and daily life. We will then return to your hotel for relaxation and overnight accommodation.

Day 2: Kigali – Akagera National Park
After breakfast, we begin our journey to Akagera National Park, located in eastern Rwanda.
Akagera National Park is Rwanda’s premier savannah wildlife destination and a home to a variety of wildlife animals and bird species.
Upon arrival, begin exploring the park with an exciting game drive with an Albertine Tours guide; you will have opportunities to search for wildlife found in Akagera Park, including elephants, buffaloes, giraffes, zebras, antelopes, and other wildlife.
The park’s beautiful combination of savannah, woodland, wetlands, and lakes makes it a fascinating destination for wildlife lovers.

Day 3: Akagera National Park Wildlife Safari
Today is dedicated to exploring the wildlife of Akagera National Park.
We start the day with an early morning game drive, when many animals are particularly active. Our experienced guide will help you locate wildlife and explain the ecology, conservation, and history of the park.
Depending on your itinerary, you may also enjoy a boat trip on Lake Ihema. The boat experience provides a different perspective of Akagera and offers excellent opportunities to see various animal species like hippos, crocodiles, Elephants, Giraffes, buffaloes, lions, and water birds, to mention but a few. After the day’s activities, return to your accommodation for relaxation.

Day 4: Akagera – Kigali – Volcanoes National Park
After breakfast, we leave Akagera and travel toward northern Rwanda to the Volcanoes National Park.

As we approach Musanze, the landscape changes dramatically, with the magnificent Virunga volcanoes rising above the surrounding countryside.
Volcanoes National Park is famous worldwide for its population of endangered mountain gorillas and is the destination for the next day’s gorilla trekking adventure. On arrival, proceed to your hotel/Lodge for check-in.

Day 5: Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes National Park
Today is the highlight of our 7-Day Rwanda Gorillas Wildlife and Culture Tour.
After an early breakfast, we travel to the Volcanoes National Park headquarters for a briefing before beginning our Rwanda gorilla trekking adventure.
Together with experienced park guides and trackers, you will enter the rainforest in search of a habituated mountain gorilla family.
The trek can take several hours depending on the location of the gorilla family. Along the way, you will experience the beautiful montane forest and learn about the area’s unique biodiversity.
When we finally encounter the gorillas, you will have the opportunity to observe these incredible animals in their natural habitat.
Gorilla trekking is a once-in-a-lifetime experience; giving experience to our guests is our responsibility while supporting conservation and local communities. After the trek, return to your accommodation and relax.

Day 6: Rwandan Culture – Lake Kivu

Depending on the activities selected for your trip, you may have an opportunity to meet local community members, discover traditional crafts, learn about local food, or experience aspects of Rwandan cultural heritage.
We then continue to Lake Kivu, where you can relax and enjoy the peaceful lakeside environment.
The combination of mountains, green hills, and sparkling water makes Lake Kivu an ideal place to slow down after your gorilla trekking adventure.
