This 5 Days Uganda Rwanda Gorilla Tour is filled with the amazing excitement of meeting with the mountain gorillas despite the short notice. The experience with the gorillas on this tour is just immeasurable. Your heart will start beating faster as you trek across fields, hills and slushy narrow paths to reach the thick of the jungle looking for these mountain giants. The climax is when you come to meet face to face with a huge but gentle silverback Gorilla or see a female gorilla nursing a baby just an arm’s distance away. This 5 Days Uganda Rwanda Gorilla Tour starts from Kigali and takes you to two of the most famous gorilla habitats in the world, Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda and Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, located not far apart from each other, and the trip will bring you back to Kigali for a quick city excursion and your flight back.
Day 1: Arrival and Transfer to Volcanoes National Park
On arrival at the Kigali Airport in Rwanda, You will be welcome by our guide who will take you through the highlights of this 5 Days Special Uganda Rwanda gorilla tour whilst perusing through the amazing Kigali City during which you will visit the Genocide memorial sites where more than one million people lost their lives during the genocide of the mid 1990s in Rwanda. Later on in the evening, you will transfer to Volcanoes National Park to the north of Rwanda and upon reaching in just 2-3 hours drive, you will check in at the Hotel booked for you in Ruhengeri near the park for Dinner and overnight.
Day 2: Full Day Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes National Park
You will wake very early in the morning for a drive to the park headquarters. At 7:30 am on arrival, you will assemble for a briefing about the gorilla trekking dos, don’ts and other helpful information for you to know. Then after with your trekking gear and drinking water and packed lunch, you will be transferred to the point at which the gorilla trail into the forest begins. It can take between 2 to 7 hours to finally meet and encounter the gorillas. You will be free to take photographs and remain in their presence for a maximum of an hour. Return to the lodge for relaxation and lunch. Dedicate your evening to nature walk or visiting the Ib’iwachu Cultural Village for Rwanda’s cultural heritage and practices. Dinner and overnight at a preferred hotel of your choice.
Day 3: Visit Lake Burela, Transfer to Bwindi in Kisoro, Uganda
You will have breakfast early in the morning and pay a visit to the Lake Burela, one of the twin lakes before beginning your journey to enter Uganda for another gorilla trekking experience in Bwindi Forest. In about 4 hours, we reach Kisoro town, home of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest to checking at the hotel for your dinner and overnight.
Day 4: Bwindi Gorilla Trekking, Transfer to Kigali
You will have an early breakfast and be driven to the Bwindi Forest Park Headquarters in Uganda for another full day gorilla trekking briefing about what to do and not do while on a Gorilla trek. After the briefing, you will set for the trekking in very thick vegetation. Trekking gorillas in Bwindi- Uganda is quite challenging as it involves moving over the rugged terrain of steep slopes and valleys. The jungle is very lively with rich forest sounds. The trek ranges between 2 – 8 hours and you have one hour to stay with the Gorillas once sited.
In the afternoon after the trek, you can opt for a community walk among the Batwa people who used to live in the Bwindi forest before it was gazetted as a National Park to learn about their life and culture as a forest people. You will have dinner and overnight at the lodge of your previous day.
Day 5: Cross back to Rwanda, Gisozi Genocide Memorial and departure
In the morning, you will enjoy breakfast, then set off from Bwindi crossing over to Rwanda through the Kyanika/Katuna border. On reaching Kigali at around mid-day, you will be driven to pay a visit to the Gisozi Genocide Memorial Museum before transferring to the Airport for your outbound departure flight.
