This 8-Day Rwanda Gorillas & Wildlife Safari gives you deep insight into the beauty of Rwanda at its fullest. You will be able to learn about Rwanda’s culture, experience Rwanda gorilla trekking in Volcanoes National Park & wildlife in  Akagera National Park for wild game viewing, excellent bird watching, and also visit the grave of the famed primatologist Dian Fossey. Below is the proposed itinerary for this kind of safari. The safari starts and ends in Kigali. This 8 days Gorilla safari helps you have a lifetime memorable experience while trekking the endangered Mountain gorillas. The trekking kicks off with a briefing about the activity at the Volcanoes National Park headquarters; you are then dropped at the trekking starting point guided by the park rangers and guides. Once you find the mountain gorillas, you will be allowed to spend only one hour with them, watching them take care of the young ones, feeding them, and combing their hair.

It’s on this day that you will be jetting into Kanombe International Airport, Kigali. You will be picked up by our ever-on-time driver and driven straight to your hotel in Kigali

You will be picked up by your driver and embark on a 2-hour drive to Akagera National Park, located in the eastern part of Rwanda, bordering Tanzania in the East and Uganda in the west. On arrival at the park reception, you will register and receive a briefing from the park ranger before proceeding to the hotel for check-in, have lunch, and then relax. In the afternoon, go on the short game drive heading to Lake Ihema to catch up ith sun set boat ride on Lake Ihema; thereafter, return to your accommodation

Enjoy your breakfast in the morning, check out, and transfer to Volcanoes National Park via Kigali for lunch. After lunch, proceed with your journey towards Musanze in Volcanoes National Park. On the drive, make sure your camera is on throughout, taking photos of greenery, rolling hills, and colored farms of locals. The drive is about 2 to 3 hours until you reach your accommodation and check in.

Wake up in the morning, have a cup of coffee, and drive to park headquarters for golden monkeys registration and briefing before embarking on your drive to the hiking trails into the forest of Volcanoes National Park. One of the most exquisite but jumpy species of monkeys, the golden monkeys are found only in the volcanic Virunga region. They reside in the national park’s bamboo forest, and while the trek to see them takes two to three hours, it is not as strenuous as the trek to see the gorillas. Return to the lodge.

After breakfast in the morning, we’ll head to the park headquarters for a briefing from park rangers. They’ll go over the dos and don’ts when interacting with gorillas. You’ll be guided through the park in groups of eight to find the gentle, brown-eyed creatures, and you’ll enjoy the walk through the forest, with the pace determined by the last person. Since the trek is fairly strenuous, it’s important to consider your physical fitness before going for a gorilla experience. It takes 2-5 hours trekking to see the gorilla species, after which you return to the lodge.

Breakfast in the morning. After enjoying your breakfast, check out and visit the former Iby’iwacu Cultural Village (Gorilla Guardians) to learn more about Rwanda’s traditional Culture during the monarchical period before the colonialists arrived in Rwanda. The visit takes 1 to 2 hours, depending on the pace used while visiting the village. Embark on the drive to experience Ellen DeGeneres by Dian Fossey Camps and thereafter, transfer to Lake Kivu for an evening relaxation on the lake shore for the rest of the afternoon.

Leave your hotel and catch up with a boat trip at your scheduled time.

  • Sunrise: Boat cruise on Lake Kivu that takes that take 1 to 2 hours, visiting some of the Islands that found on the lake; after, return to the hotel for breakfast and leisure for the rest of the afternoon hours.
  • Lunch: Enjoy your lunch at the lakeside hotel or resort.
  • Evening Beach Time: Walk along the sandy waterfront or relax by the water.
  • Sunset Drink: Watch the sunset over the water with a local drink at the beach.

Have a nice, relaxed final morning, where we can just soak in the ambiance of the place, reflect upon the adventures of our past week, and pack. Depending on our flight schedules, we may have lunch at the Lodge and then depart for Kigali for your return flight, and that marks the end of the trip.
