Since the chimps nest each and every night, there are trackers who go ahead of the trekking group to find them and communicate with the ranger guides. After a hilarious experience with the chimpanzees, trekkers retire to the habituated groups where they can gather to learn more about the chimps.
Habituated chimpanzee groups in Nyungwe forest are quite bigger than any other primates group with over 60 members and due to the greatness of the forest and terrain, it gives few chances of seeing the chimps, while the group in Cyamudongo forest that has a smaller number of about 30 chimps giving the most successful sightings that are given in the small size that is covered to find the chimps in any part.
How much does it cost to go for Chimp Tracking in Rwanda?
Chimpanzee trekking permits are sold by the Rwanda Development Board and cost only USD 150 for foreign non-residents and USD 100 for foreign residents of Rwanda and East Africa (Rwanda, Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, and Burundi). Such a cost is very minimal as compared to gorilla permits that cost 15 times more than this amount.
Therefore, considering Rwanda chimpanzee trekking and other primate adventure tours will not really disappoint, alongside the chimpanzee trek, be assured of seeing many other primates, including the red-tailed monkeys, colobus monkeys, blue monkeys, among others.

- Bring hiking shoes or boots, pants, a long-sleeved shirt, and a rain jacket
